THE NEW TERM HAS STARTED, AND I WOULD LIKE TO REMIND ALL PARENTS THAT FEES ARE

PAYABLE IN ADVANCE. ALL OUTSTANDING FEES MUST BE PAID ON OR BEFORE THE UPCOMING

GRADING.

KARATEKA WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO GRADE IF ANY FEES FOR 2019 ARE STILL OUTSTANDING.

  1. FEES:

The problem with late payments is getting worse and it is becoming very difficult to manage the dojo and run classes of a high standard. All students who still have outstanding fees for the first, second and third terms will be told to sit out during classes until such fees are paid in full.  Please do not blame the instructors, the order to let the children sit out comes from me.

From 2020 we will adjust the fees of the second and third member of a family to 60% of the normal fee. With the rising costs it is becoming very difficult to give such discounts. No school that I know of offer big discounts for families. I hope that you understand.

  1. LEN BARNES INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT – SEPTEMBER 2019

Above Karate Tournament took place on Saturday 21st September 2019. Our students did extremely well. Sensei Sydney did exceptionally well by winning the Men’s Heavyweight title. The junior karateka who competed also did very well. Unfortunately, some students missed the tournament due to the school holiday.

Gold medal winners – Kumite:  Ruan Grobbelaar, Riko Odendaal, Jesse Masimila, Pieter von Maltitz, Joshua Eitner, Deone Veremu, Milla-Gray Cupido, Jordan Masimila, Sisipho Zingitwa & Sensei Sydney Veremu.

God medal winners –  Kata:   Aldo vd Walt, Kyra Casteling , Joshua Eitner, Ronin Gain, Pieter von Maltitz and Matthew Cleary.

Our October camp will take place from 18th to 20th October 2019 at Okkie Jooste Camp site, Jonkershoek, STELLENBOSCH. We will have two groups:

Group 1: Karateka grading for Brown and black belt. We would like to prepare them for the grading and must attend the whole weekend. They must be at the camp on Friday at 18h00. We will train very hard and concentrate on the kata and bunkai of kata. Other older karateka can also join us for the whole weekend. They will train about 4 hours per day.

Group 2:  Will consist of the other karateka who will have less intensive training over the weekend, with some other fun events. We have a day camp on Saturday where they will train from 09h00 till 16h00. They will receive lunch, fruit and cool drinks.

The pre-grading for brown and black belts will take place on Sunday morning from 10h30 till 12h30.

Our weekend campers must be fetched after 10h00 on Sunday and our Pre-grading students at 13h00.

Please note that there will be no class at the Welgemoed dojo on Saturday 19 October due to the camp.

  1. Saturday 12 October we will have a special training session at Welgemoed. Shihan Brandon Denito from Sweden will teach a 3 hour fighting class. He is an excellent karateka and still competes in men’s event even though he is in his 50’s. We will train from 0830 till 12h00. Afterwards we will have something to eat at De Oude Social Café behind the dojo. There will be no charge for the training.

SCHOOL HALL. Students that have not yet achieved the required level of technical excellence, fitness and strength, will each be informed by a written letter notifying you as parents as well as the Karateka of the aspects on which they have to improve. Please try to put in extra training at our other dojo’s. karateka grading for black and brown belts need a lot of stamina to complete their grading.

All green and brown belt who are grading on 30th November 2019 must try to attend extra classes from 18h00 to 19h30 on Wednesdays at Welgemoed – the instructors will focus on kata for an extra ½ hour and Saturdays for Kumite (fighting) / Kata from 10h30 -12h00. During these classes, they will mostly concentrate on the Bunkai, Bo kata, advanced Ido-Geiko and combinations. We will also focus on fitness training to ensure that all students are fit enough to complete their grading. Parents are allowed to watch the gradings.

Please take note that grading is a privilege and not a must. Students who do not perform up to the standard required will fail. So please prepare well.
