THE NEW  TERM  HAS  STARTED  AND  I  WOULD  LIKE  TO  REMIND  ALL  PARENTS  THAT  FEES

ARE  PAYABLE  IN  ADVANCE.  FEES FOR 2ND TERM MUST BE PAID IN FULL.   NO LATER THAN

30 APRIL 2019. (Except the clients who are on debit order)

TO ALL PARENTS WITH OUTSTANDING FEES

We as instructors feel that we can no longer spend our time and energy begging people for outstanding fees.  There are still students who did not pay their fees for the first term.   That is fees that should have been paid in January 2019.

Students whose fees are not paid for the 1st term will be asked to sit out from NEXT WEEK.

I hope that you will understand and that we will receive your co-operation in this matter. We have an option of debit orders where you can pay per month instead of the terms fee that should be paid in full. An administration fee for late payments will be charged from now on:  R50 after the first month and R100 after the 2nd month.

Please note that during the course of this term we will be moving onto a new invoicing system. We are doing this to streamline the payment process. There may initially be teething problems with the system, we ask that you please bear with us in this regard. Our goal is that instructors can spend less time on dealing with outstanding fees and more time on developing stimulating and beneficial classes for our karateka.

WP KARATE TOURNAMENT (JUNIORS & SENIORS) – 13 APRIL 2019

We will host the above tournament at Kenridge Primary School, KENRIDGE on SATURDAY 13th APRIL 2019.The instructors at the various dojos will identify the students that are competent enough to compete. In the u/7 age group the level is very basic and almost all students should be able to compete. In the u/9 age group the level is slightly higher but by u/11 only students that have some experience should compete. Please ask the instructor in the class if a student is competent enough if you have not received a letter with his name written on it.

Please remember that a student who is 7 years old on the day can compete u/7. The day he or she turns 8, they must take part under 9. The same principle also will be for the older groups.

The students must have their own shin pads and gloves. We will supply the headgear, although it is encouraged that students who are serious about competing in tournaments should purchase their own to practice with in class. The protectors must be soft and have at least 1cm of foam. Shin pads and gloves and headgear will be sold at the venue on the day. We also sell it through the instructors at the different dojos and at our Fighting Spirit Martial art shop at the Welgemoed dojo.

Please turn up in time. If you are late, you will have to enter in the older division. We have different weight divisions and students will weigh in and pay at the tournament.

KARATE UNIFORMS

The wearing of a karate uniform is compulsory and helps to ensure discipline in class and create a sense of belonging.  Please

try your utmost to buy the suit by the end of April 2019 for those who do not already have. A karate suit that is specially made for

our specific style is available from our “Fighting Spirit” Martial Arts shop in Welgemoed and the price is R420 for up to 8 years

(size 0000, 000, 00, 0) and R500 for all the bigger uniforms from size 1 to 7.  You can also order it through the instructors at the

various dojos.

All students from Grade 1 who started at the beginning of the year MUST have shin pads and gloves. This is to protect the karateka as well as the opponent from injuries. A full set of approved gloves and pads cost R350 at our shop. Please invest in a set please. Pre-school kids do not need these protectors.

INTERNATIONAL CAMP:  10 – 12  MAY  2019 –  OPPISEE CULTURAL CENTRE,  MELKBOSSTRAND

Our International camp will take place at Oppisee Cultural Centre, Melkbosstrand. This annual International camp has always

proved to be very interesting and enjoyable.  During the International camp we will learn new and interesting techniques from our

visiting Japanese Instructors Shihan Akiyama and Sensei Chinone. This year we will concentrate a lot on tournament preparation

and higher kata. We will use the September /October camp to prepare the karateka going for brown and black belt for their

grading.  All karateka 8 years and older are welcome to attend the whole weekend’s training. Younger karateka can attend a

day’s training on the Saturday from 9h00 till 16h00. We highly encourage all green belts and up to attend it will be greatly benficial to their development

On Sunday we will have a grading from 11h00 for Senior instructors.   Parents can fetch their children from 10h00.    The grading will be for senior instructors and not open to public.  Please remember that NO cellphones will be allowed on the camp. We will supply our numbers in case of emergency. (No exceptions will be made)

These camps are compulsory for karateka who want to grade in December 2019 for their brown and black belts.

**  Karateka must arrange their own transport for May camp  (NO BUSSES) – The camp is very easy to find. It can be found on google maps or any other navigation system.

We have 3 security guards patrolling the camp from 7pm to 7am to make sure everyone is safe. We have great fun at the camp and the students do learn a lot of new and interesting training methods.

GRADING MAY – JUNE 2019

The Pre-Primary students will grade on Saturday 18th May 2019, while the scholars with white belts will start on Saturday 25 May.  The higher belts will follow in June. You will receive a full breakdown of dates / grading times by the 1st week of May 2019. If you cannot make the specific date, you can still do the grading the next Saturday during the first group.  For religious reasons with grading on a Saturday, speak to the instructor so that you can be moved over to the Senior Grading during the week (Tuesday or Thursday evening).

INTERNATIONAL REGISTRATION

Please remember that all our students from Grade 1 must be registered in Japan. The cost is R150. Without being registered we cannot inform Japan Honbu about our student’s progress. Please do it before the grading. We need the student’s full name and date of birth. The instructor will take the students photo with his cell phone for the membership card.

DONATIONS OF CLOTHES FOR LITTLEWOOD SCHOOL

I would like to thank all those who have donated so far to this Mitchell Plain school. Any additional donations would be greatly appreciated. Please assist us with any clothes like shoes, school shirts, pants, socks. Clothes can be dropped off at our Welgemoed Dojo or handed over to any of our instructors at the various dojos. Thursday, 18 April we will be closing this project.

INSTRUCTORS COURSE

Dates for this term:   Friday 12 April,17th May and 7th June 2019. We started last term and we have a very nice group of students that seemed very motivated. Please keep up with regular attendance and please prepare well for the tests.

KARATE CLASSES:

19 – 22  APRIL 2019  –   Easter Weekend –    NO CLASSES

1st MAY 2019 –  Workers Day  –  Public Holiday –   NO CLASSES

8th MAY 2019    Election Day –   Public Holiday –    NO CLASSES

I hope that all karateka’s standard will improve a great deal this term. If you find that the school’s winter sport program clashes with the karate times, please phone our office or look on our website for alternative training times at nearby dojo’s.  It is impossible to please everybody, but I am sure that we can make a suitable plan. Your children will only experience the tremendous benefits of karate if they attend the classes on a regular basis.

Karate Greetings
