*****  THE NEW TERM HAS STARTED AND I WOULD LIKE TO REMIND ALL PARENTS THAT FEES ARE PAYABLE IN ADVANCE.

ALL OUTSTANDING FEES MUST BE PAID ON OR BEFORE 31 OCTOBER 2017

KARATEKA WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO GRADE IF ANY FEES FOR 2017 ARE STILL OUTSTANDING.

  1. OUTSTANDING FEES:

The problem with late payments are getting worse and it is becoming very difficult to manage the dojo and run classes of a high standard. All students who still have outstanding fees for the first, second and third terms will be told to sit out during classes until such fees are paid in full.  Please do not blame the instructors, the order to let the children sit out comes from me.

  1.     PRE-GRADING KARATE CAMP :   SEPTEMBER 2017

Our September camp took place at Bien Donne, GROOT DRAKENSTEIN from 22 – 24 September 2017.     We made a very nice professional video that can be viewed on our website www.kyokushinsa.co.za. The camp was a big success and the karateka preparing for their grading learned a lot. Some senior karateka decided to travel in and out and I feel this was not conducive to good discipline as they missed some of the training. In future weekend campers will NOT be allowed to travel in and out.

A very big problem is children that bring their cell phones on the camp against our strict instructions. Some children were caught showing programs not suited for children to smaller children. Parent’s reasons are “ I want to get hold of my child.”   In future please do not do this again.

4              NOVICE KARATE TOURNAMENT  AND  WP  KATA TOURNAMENT –    21 OCTOBER 2017

We will host the abovementioned tournament at Welgemoed Primary school on Saturday 21st October 2017.          NOVICE KUMITE TOURNAMENT: Only karateka up to Purple Belt that are proficient enough will receive a letter from their Instructor with their name filled in can take part in the sparring tournament. The 1st three places will receive medals. Karateka that won tournaments before cannot take part. The karateka start to weigh in from U/7 Age at 08h00 with heavier weights later so that you do not have to be at the tournament longer than 2 hours. This is a very good way for a karateka to start his/her tournament career. The information can be seen on our website www.kyokushinsa.co.za.  If you are not sure if your child must take part, please ask the instructor.

WP KATA TOURNAMENT

The kata tournament will be for grades up to black belt but will have different divisions for the different grades to make it fair and give the lower grades a fair chance. The kata division will start at 10h00 so that the karateka can take part in the kumite first. The students will all receive a information letter but you can view it on our website www.kyokushinsa.co.za The first three places in all divisions will receive medals.

5              PRIZE  GIVING  –   31 OCTOBER 2017

Our prize giving ceremony to honour our karateka for their hard work and self-discipline will be held on Tuesday 31st October 2017 at Welgemoed Primary School Hall. We will invite students who worked hard and made the most progress as well as karateka who graded to brown and black belt, represented WP and who finished the instructors course.

The Sportsman & Sportswoman of Year for 2017 will also be chosen at the Prize Giving.. The nominated karateka will receive an invitation at the dojo and admission will be free.    Admission will be R50 per adult and R20 per child, with the proceeds going to the team representing SA in Japan in November.

**  Letters for nominees will follow shortly

  1. GRADING: BROWN AND BLACK BELTS :

The above grading is taking place on SATURDAY 11TH NOVEMBER 2017  at  WELGEMOED  PRIMARY SCHOOL HALL. Some students have not achieved the required level of technical excellence as well as fitness and strength for their grade. Please try to put in extra training at other dojo’s as karateka grading for black belt need lots of stamina to complete their grading.

BROWN BELT GRADING  (2nd Kyu)                                                                         8h30  –   11h30

BLACK BELT GRADING   (1st Dan)                                                                          13h00 –   16h30

&  BROWN  BELT GRADING (1st Kyu)

If you are late, you will NOT be allowed to start the grading.

Please make sure that all Application forms are completed and grading fees are paid in advance, as NO  admin will be done on the day of the grading.   The karateka grading for 1st Dan (Shodan) )  must supply us with a passport size photo to send to Japan for registration.   Nobody will be allowed to grade if their fees or photos are outstanding.

Grading fee:  Black Belt: 1st Dan R1750.00, Brown Belt; 1st & 2nd Kyu  R700.00. Karateka who grade to brown belt will receive a belt with their name embroidered on the belt.  Black belts as well as the certificates will come from Japan. I do realize that this is expensive, but the increase is due to the very weak rand. Please be aware that we do pay far less than first world countries.

All green and brown belts who are grading on 11th November 2017  must try to attend extra classes  from 18h00  to 19h30 on Wednesdays at Welgemoed – the instructors will focus on kata for an extra ½ hour  and Saturdays  8h30 – 10h00 for Kumite (fighting) or 10h30 – 12h00 for kata.  During these classes, they will also concentrate on the Bunkai, Bo kata, advanced Ido Geiko and combinations.   We will also focus on fitness training to ensure that all students are fit enough to complete their grading. On Saturday 28th October 2017 we will have a 2-hour class from 10h00 till 12h00 that all students grading for black/brown belt must attend. We will assist them with any problems in the kata and bunkai.
